Commercial Building Projects
Equity Construction have carried out a variety of different projects over the last few years, from general maintainance to building a footbridge out of Honduras pitch pine for Jarvis Highway Maintainance. Some other projects we have worked on recently were for, Communsis Security Products & Saville Gordon Estates.
Bizspace - Garston Industrial Estate

Key Challenges: The site location resulted in us working on different levels. The site was also located adjacent to a school, due to this we erected special health and safety signs to the secure the site from unauthorised entry from school children and others.

Key Challenges: Keeping the road open below during demolition using a stop and go traffic light system and residents and tenants safe during. the demolition.
Hyde Road Tyres
To build a new extension, external walkways and parking that was to be used as a new MOT bay for Hyde Road Tyres.

Key Challenges: To internally dry line and fit out during an exceptionally cold British winter adjacent to the Menai Straights Bridge in North Wales.
Town Hall Manchester Showcase Project
New display cases for the complete Manchester silverware collection.

Manchester Council Taxi Licensing Unit
To design and install new toughened glass screens displaying the councils crest.

Key Challenges: The works had to be completed out of hours so that the licensing unit remained open.
Trafford Centre
To supply and install radius profiled ceilings in superlux fire resistant cladding to all the stairway fire exist towers in the two storey car parks.

Wilmslow & Claremont
An emergency structural propping to a falling building on Wilmslow/Claremont Road in Rusholme, Manchester.

Key Challenges: Rapid emergency procurement of diversion of traffic to a major corridor road and to structurally secure a collapsing building in one of Manchester’s busiest and most vibrant area renowned for its gourmet Asian foods.
Woodville Centre Nursery
Design, build and redevelopment of an existing Residential Care Home into a children’s nursery fit to accommodate 65 children.

Key Challenges: The Woodville centre is the community hub for Cheetham Hill and is used continuously 7 days a week by members of the community. This made the use of the car park for the storage and delivery of materials difficult as it was still in use by the public for access to the community centre.
Biz Space Bold M & Y Project
A Roof Refurbishment for a leaking roof.

Key Challenges: Undertaking the work during the winter period which meant removing ice and snow from the roof of the building and keeping the existing tenants below water tight and hence dry.
DBN Lighting
Complete refurbishment to 2 nr of adjacent industrial units to clients specifics to accommodate their growing business including testing & repair workshops and storage for their vast specialist lighting stock.

Key Challenges: To ensure that the unit 1 was refitted with new offices ready to move the existing offices during closedown at easter.
Bizspace - Hartlepool Site
Structural steel secure and retention works due to partial roof collapse at estate in costal area.

Key Challenges: Working through birdcage scaffolding and working under a building that was collapsing.
Javis Highway Maintenance
A design and build by Equity of an existing pitch pine foot bridge.

Key Challenges: Working a mile away from the nearest road meant that all deliveries and disposal of materials had to be transported via dumpers. Access was very narrow with only a footpath available. The footbridge was closed for 14 days during the dismantle and erection period and during the 12 week contract it had to be accessible for pedestrian traffic. This alongside working over water at heights meant that safety was paramount throughout the complete contract.
Communsis Security Products
Continuous maintenance and refurbishment.

Key Challenges: The existing factory had to remain open and in full production 24/7. Therefore when we had to cut out the concrete floor and insert service ducts with arena floor trunking for the power cables supplying the cheque printing machinery, it had to be ensured the environment was controlled to remain dust free.
